For Medical/Surgical Societies, Organizations, & Surgeons
Plexus Surgical Video Productions is especially committed to academic excellence. We strive to create programs that provide the viewer with insight into the thinking of the presenting surgeon as well as nuance of technique. Our sensitivity to the communicative standards of surgeons brings an added value to every surgical procedural program. As well, to this date, we have never had a surgeon join us for assembly editing. Typically we send the authoring surgeons a DVD or video file, which s/he can view while noting the time codes for any required changes. How do we do this? We know surgery! It’s as simple as that. We know what we are looking at, where to make the cuts, and how to show the most advantageous camera angle. We can handle complex anatomic content and labeling as well. Our clients and our surgeons are all over the country, and we have created a method of working with surgeons and clients that obviates the need for any of them to ever step into the editing suite.
Surgeons Teaching Surgeons
We know that the basis for all medical societies is the dissemination and sharing of ideas with colleagues. Surgical video is one of the most outstanding means of conveying ideas about surgical procedures. Societies benefit tremendously through this kind of media, and members almost always praise the surgical video programs that their societies promote.
Plexus offers a simplified editing process for surgeon presentation video for PowerPoint and Keynote. More About Presentation Video Editing:
Medical Society Video Journals
Video journals, surgical video program series that are typically offered yearly or bi-yearly, have a tremendous impact on the surgical community in a positive way. Video journals are an active means of providing CME accreditation for watching programs. Video journals start with surgical video production and editing, and the compilation of programs can be done through the editorial influence of key society members, while the means of distributing video can be done through multiple venues.
Sponsorship From Surgical Device Companies
Surgical device companies are highly enthused about sponsoring academic efforts in any way they can. With the recent regulations enforced on surgical device companies, pooling their sponsorship with other companies is the best means for them to contribute to the greater academic surgical community. This is an outstanding opportunity for medical societies of all kinds.
Cadaveric Demonstrations
Another means of instruction is through cadaveric surgical teaching programs and anatomic dissection demonstrations. The value of these programs is tremendous for seasoned surgeons, residents, and fellows.
Online Content Delivery Or CDN Through Surgeon Today
Online surgical video content delivery (content delivery network or CDN) can be done through a number of websites. Surgeon Today at SurgeonToday.org is just one such website that is especially created for surgeons and operating room personnel. Designed with the controls of a surgeons-only membership website, Surgeon Today can be controlled by members that want to post video programs for only their specialty colleagues to view, or through private showings, or by designating their videos unrestricted so that operating room personnel and non-specialty physicians can also view. Medical societies can benefit from establishing their own "channels" on Surgeon Today to promote active dissemination and discussion of surgical video content pertinent to their members. This alleviates the costs and organizational strain of creating a society online video network through your organization. This means that even small medical societies can benefit with a means of online video content delivery already established.
